This book is composed of two parts, with each part having its own page numbering. Part One, Abraham (Braun) Brown the Miller (1743-1804) is contained in pdf pages 36-382 (with an introduction and pages numbered 1 to 341). Part Two, Johan Jacob “Jakob” (Braun) Brown the Wagonmaker (1731-1807) is contained in pdf pages 383-579 (with an introduction and pages numbered 1 to 182).
Abraham and Jacob were brothers, sons of Johann Stephan Christian Braun (1703 – 1763) and Maria Eva (Hamen) Braun (1710 – 1750), who were born in Germany and immigrated to the New World, arriving at Philadelphia in 1738. The family lived in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania about 20 years before moving south. Abraham and his parents settled in Rowan County, North Carolina, while Jacob later moved from Rowan County to Washington County, Tennessee.
The book covers many generations, and includes numerous photographs of people and places. The 35-page introduction details the research efforts that extended back to the village of Ruschberg and Niedermohr in Germany.
