  • Earliest Known Ancestor: Robert Rowland (1675-1711 ) was born in Derbyshire. He married Prudence Sleigh. They had a son named Sleigh and there were at least five generations of Sleighs. They were renowned cutlery makers in Sheffield (see Famous Rowlands). Some descendants migrated to Franklin County, Massachusetts, and continued the cutlery trade.
