Rowland Genealogy encompasses all aspects of the Rowland surname in genealogy, history, and common usage. Our objective is to be a prime resource for all genealogists with a Rowland branch in their family tree. One of the site’s focal points is the Xref Project, where our goal is to cross-reference all Rowland Y-DNA test takers to their appropriate Rowland ancestral line. Additionally, we publish the Rowland Genealogy Newsletter.
We encourage all males with a Rowland surname to take a Y-DNA test and consider participating in the Rowland Xref Project. Additionally, we encourage the submission of any articles that would be of interest to our audience. Please bring any errors or discrepancies to our attention by commenting on the associated page or by using our contact form.
About Your Host
My name is Ron Rowland, your host here at Rowland Genealogy. I got my first taste of genealogy at a young age while attending the annual Diehl Family Reunions in Bates County, Missouri, home of my maternal grandparents. It was there I first learned about my extensive network of cousins and heard the stories of how my great-great-grandfather, Frank Henry Diehl, came from Germany and settled in Missouri.
My mother and paternal grandfather were both active genealogists, so genealogy is probably part of my DNA. About a decade ago, I became very active with WikiTree, where I’ve made more than 84,000 contributions to the global tree. In 2018, I took on the additional role of coordinating the Rowland Name Study at WikiTree.
